My 10 (!!!) days in Siem Reap mainly existed of drinking too much and visiting temples. The idea was to spend 6 days in Siem Reap, but Evy’s flight got changed and I found my Cambodian family ♥️. Turns out that you can make a lot of friends when you’re spending 10 days in a party hostel.
We also went to see the temples at Ankor Wat. It was an early morning, leaving at 4.30 AM, but the sunrise was beautiful.
Was it as impressive as I imagined? No, but I had really high expectations. Would I recommend to go on a sunrise tour? Definitely yes, because it is wayyyy too hot during the day to walk around temples.
We also took a Buddhism tour in Siem Reap. Our guide, who was a monk for 10 years, took us to several temples and told us a lot about Buddhism and his own life as a monk. I absolutely loved this tour (spoiler: I’m a nerd). It was expensive, but I learned so much about Cambodian religion and Buddhism in general so it was worth it!
After 10 days, it was time to leave Siem Reap and explore some more Cambodia. That’s why we are now in Kratie! Next post about our adventures here…
